What we collect

Almost nothing. Magic City Locals does not use cookies, analytics, advertising pixels, or any other tracking technology. We do not build a profile of you, and there is no account to create.

The one time we collect personal information is when you choose to send it to us:

• The business submission form. If you submit a business, we receive the business name and category, your name, your email address, and anything else you type into the form, including an optional phone number, address, and website. This is emailed to us so we can review the listing and reply to you.
• Email you send us. If you write to us directly, we have your message and your email address.

How we use it

We use what you send only to do the thing you asked for: review your listing, answer your question, or correct something on the site. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We do not add you to a mailing list. We do not share it with other businesses in the directory.

Submissions arrive by email and stay in that inbox. If you want your submission deleted, ask and we will delete it.

Automatic technical information

Like every website, our host records standard server logs when a page is requested, which include IP addresses and browser information. Our form handler also records the IP address of a submission briefly, to limit spam and abuse. These are ordinary security measures, not analytics, and we do not use them to identify visitors.

Third parties your browser contacts

One, and only while the weather is loading. Open-Meteo supplies the Birmingham temperature shown in the header. That request is made by your browser, so Open-Meteo can see your IP address. See the Open-Meteo terms. If your browser has JavaScript turned off, that request never happens.

Everything else the page needs, including the typeface and every photo, is served from this site. Nothing is loaded from Google, from a font service, from a content delivery network, or from a social network. There is no third-party advertising, no social media tracking, and no embedded analytics anywhere on this site.

Links to other sites

Directory listings, event pages, and news stories link out to websites we do not control. Once you follow a link, that site's own privacy practices apply, not ours.

Business information on the site

Listings are drawn from information businesses and organizations publish about themselves, such as their own websites and public business listings. If you own a listed business and want your listing changed or removed, email us and we will handle it. You do not need to give a reason.

Children

This site is a general audience directory and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted on this page rather than made quietly.
